Job description
Assist in Kitchen Leadership: Support the Head Chef in managing the kitchen, overseeing the preparation and presentation of food, and ensuring smooth daily operations.
Supervision of Kitchen Staff: Supervise and guide junior chefs and kitchen assistants, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
Menu Planning & Development: Contribute to the development and design of innovative, seasonal menus. Ensure that dishes are prepared using the best ingredients and reflect the restaurant’s fine dining standards.
Quality Control & Presentation: Ensure all dishes leaving the kitchen meet the restaurant’s exacting standards of quality and presentation.
Taste and assess dishes to maintain consistency. Inventory & Stock Management: Manage stock levels, conduct regular inventory checks, and assist in ordering supplies. Ensure proper storage and rotation of ingredients to reduce waste.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure the kitchen complies with all health and safety regulations, including food hygiene standards. Conduct regular checks and adhere to local food safety laws.
Training & Development of Team: Assist in training kitchen staff, fostering their professional development and ensuring they are up to date with the latest culinary techniques and safety protocols.
Handling Busy Service Periods: Assist the Head Chef during peak service times, ensuring that dishes are prepared and served quickly and efficiently without compromising quality. Problem
Solving & Decision-Making: Step into the Head Chef’s role when required, making decisions on kitchen operations and resolving any issues that may arise during service.
Essential requirements
Minimum 1 Year Experience in 5-Star Restaurants: Proven experience working as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a high-end, 5-star restaurant environment.
Good English Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written English skills are required to effectively communicate with the kitchen team and front-of-house staff.
Culinary Expertise: Solid knowledge of culinary techniques and fine dining standards, with an emphasis on quality, presentation, and innovation in the kitchen.
Leadership Skills: Ability to lead, supervise, and mentor kitchen staff, ensuring that the team works cohesively and efficiently.
Adaptability & Flexibility: Able to adapt to changing demands, work under pressure during busy service periods, and maintain high standards in a fast-paced environment.
Strong Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail, especially in food presentation, ensuring that each dish meets the restaurant’s high expectations.
Health & Safety Knowledge: A good understanding of food hygiene regulations and safety standards, ensuring the kitchen is compliant at all times.
Ability to Work Flexible Hours: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as required by the nature of the hospitality industry.
