Job description

  • Conduct regular health assessments and screenings for students, identifying potential health issues and providing appropriate advice.

  •  Provide immediate medical assistance to students and staff in case of illness, injury, or emergencies. 

  • Administer first aid and arrange further medical care if needed.

  • Educate students, parents, and school staff about health, hygiene, and disease prevention through workshops, newsletters, and school programs. 

  • Administer medications to students as prescribed, keeping accurate records, and ensuring all medications are safely stored and dispensed according to school policies.

  • Work with local health authorities to coordinate student immunizations and ensure compliance with UAE vaccination guidelines. 

  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for students with chronic health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, or allergies, ensuring that staff are aware and trained to handle specific needs. 

  • Maintain detailed health records for all students, tracking medical histories, immunizations, medications, and incidents, while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with health regulations.

  • Monitor and manage infection prevention protocols within the school environment, reporting any contagious conditions and working with school staff to minimize the spread of illnesses.

  • Ensure the school complies with UAE health and safety regulations, providing input on policies that affect student and staff well-being. 

  • Serve as a point of contact for parents regarding their children's health, ensuring clear and open communication about any concerns or health-related issues.

Essential requirements

UAE Nursing Registration or License: Applicants must hold or be eligible for a UAE nursing license (DHA, HAAD, or MOH). Candidates without a license must be willing to complete the registration process. 


Nursing Qualifications: A recognised nursing degree or diploma in general nursing, paediatrics, or a related field is required. 


Minimum Experience: At least 2 years of nursing experience, with previous experience in paediatrics, school nursing, or community health being highly desirable. 


Good English Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written English proficiency is essential for effective communication with students, parents, and school staff. 


First Aid & CPR Certification: Up-to-date First Aid and CPR certifications are mandatory, ensuring you are equipped to handle emergencies. 


Teamwork & Interpersonal Skills: Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with school staff, students, and parents, along with a compassionate and caring attitude. 


Health & Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with health and safety regulations in schools, with the ability to manage and enforce infection control and medical protocols. 


Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to adapt to working in an international, multicultural environment and respect the cultural values of the UAE.
