Job description
Patient Assessment and Care: Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ health conditions, implement appropriate nursing interventions, and monitor progress to ensure optimal outcomes.
Clinical Expertise: Provide high-quality nursing care in specialized areas including A&E, Critical Care, Anaesthetics, and Paediatrics. This includes managing complex medical needs and responding to emergencies.
Medication Administration: Safely administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring compliance with hospital protocols and monitoring for side effects.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, specialists, and allied health professionals, to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, and patient responses in compliance with hospital standards.
Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care to enhance understanding and promote adherence.
Infection Control: Adhere to strict infection control protocols to minimize the risk of healthcare-associated infections and ensure patient safety.
Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergencies, providing immediate care and coordinating with emergency response teams as necessary.
Advocacy: Advocate for the needs and rights of patients, ensuring they receive appropriate care and support throughout their hospital experience.
Essential requirements
Australian Registration or License: Must hold or be eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
Qualifications: A recognised nursing degree or diploma in nursing, with a focus on adult nursing, paediatrics, or critical care preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years’ post-qualification experience in nursing, working in relevant specialties such as A&E, Critical Care, Anaesthetics, or Paediatrics at full-time equivalent hours.
Excellent English Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written English proficiency is essential for effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
First Aid & CPR Certification: Up-to-date First Aid and CPR certifications are mandatory, ensuring preparedness for emergency situations.
Compassionate and Professional Attitude: A caring and empathetic approach with the ability to handle high-pressure situations effectively.
