Job description
As a Healthcare Assistant, your duties will include:
Assisting residents with personal hygiene, including washing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
Helping residents with movement and positioning, including the use of mobility aids when necessary.
Observing and reporting changes in residents’ health conditions to the nursing staff.
Providing companionship, comfort, and reassurance to residents, helping to maintain their mental and emotional well-being.
Helping residents with eating and drinking, including preparing meals and feeding those who require assistance.
Accurately documenting care provided and any changes in residents’ conditions in line with nursing home policies.
Encouraging and assisting residents to maintain their independence where possible, respecting their dignity and privacy at all times.
Supporting the smooth running of the nursing home by helping with housekeeping tasks, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring a safe environment.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, doctors, and therapists, to provide holistic care to residents.
Essential requirements
Right to Work: Must have right to work in the UK
Previous experience in a care setting (e.g., care home, hospital, or community care), preferably with elderly or vulnerable individuals.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to empathise and engage with residents.
Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).
Personal Attributes: Compassionate, patient, and reliable with a genuine interest in caring for others.
Ability to carry out manual handling by using equipments such as Hoist.
Willingness to work varied shifts, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
