Job description

As a Healthcare Assistant, your duties will include: 

  • Assisting residents with personal hygiene, including washing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. 

  • Helping residents with movement and positioning, including the use of mobility aids when necessary. 

  • Observing and reporting changes in residents’ health conditions to the nursing staff. 

  • Providing companionship, comfort, and reassurance to residents, helping to maintain their mental and emotional well-being.

  • Helping residents with eating and drinking, including preparing meals and feeding those who require assistance. 

  • Accurately documenting care provided and any changes in residents’ conditions in line with nursing home policies.

  • Encouraging and assisting residents to maintain their independence where possible, respecting their dignity and privacy at all times. 

  • Supporting the smooth running of the nursing home by helping with housekeeping tasks, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring a safe environment. 

  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, doctors, and therapists, to provide holistic care to residents.

Essential requirements

  • Right to Work: Must have right to work in the UK 

  • Previous experience in a care setting (e.g., care home, hospital, or community care), preferably with elderly or vulnerable individuals. 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to empathise and engage with residents. 

  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards it). 

  • Personal Attributes: Compassionate, patient, and reliable with a genuine interest in caring for others. 

  • Ability to carry out manual handling by using equipments such as Hoist.

  • Willingness to work varied shifts, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
