Job description
Assist in the day-to-day operational management of the nursing home, ensuring that all services comply with regulatory and organisational standards.
Lead, mentor, and support a multidisciplinary team of nursing and care staff to ensure high standards of care and efficient service delivery.
Oversee and monitor care planning, risk management, and the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care that meets each resident's individual needs.
Ensure the home operates in full compliance with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) guidelines and relevant regulations. Maintain and review care documentation, ensuring it is up-to-date and aligned with care standards.
Assist in managing the home's budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high standards of care.
Identify training needs within the team and ensure staff are well-trained and knowledgeable about best practices in elderly care and dementia support.
Act as a point of contact for residents' families, building strong relationships and ensuring clear communication about their loved ones' care.
Ensure health and safety protocols are adhered to, maintaining a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Support recruitment efforts to maintain a high-quality team and assist in developing retention strategies to reduce staff turnover.
Investigate and manage any complaints or incidents, taking appropriate action and ensuring lessons are learned to improve service quality.
Essential requirements
Nursing Qualification (NMC Registered): Must hold a valid and up-to-date NMC registration as a Registered Nurse (RN/RMN/RGN).
Experience in Elderly Care: Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a nursing home or care home setting, preferably in a senior/leadership role.
Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
Knowledge of CQC Standards: In-depth understanding of Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulations and requirements in the UK.
Excellent Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage with residents, families, and staff effectively.
Person-Centred Care Approach: Passionate about delivering compassionate, person-centred care that respects the dignity and independence of elderly residents.
Problem-Solving Ability: Ability to manage challenging situations, including staff issues, resident care needs, and operational challenges.
Organisational Skills: Strong time management and organisational abilities to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
IT Proficiency: Comfortable using care management systems, Microsoft Office, and other relevant software for record-keeping and reporting.
